Description

Straight forward cognitive and perceptual studies are often time-consuming and tedious for subjects. In an attempt to gain insight into certain perceptual aspects of spatial perception, the goal of this internship will be to develop several perceptual experiments which are integrated within a game-type experience. Current studies are concerned with spatial audio perception, and therefore an audio-visual game design will be the focus.

Based upon the OpenSource BlenderGameEngine, BlenderCAVE is a highly adaptable VR architecture developed at LIMSI for immersive VR (http://blendercave.limsi.fr). All game design will be accomplished within this architecture.

This internship will be carried out within the context of the BiLi project, a French collaboration project concerning “Binaural Listening” and how to bring high quality spatial into the general public marketplace. As such, game design options include possible inclusion of low-cost devices such as Wii controllers, Kinect, etc.

Highly motivated and dynamic candidates are encouraged to apply. No prior knowledge of spatial audio is required, though interest and willingness to learn are beneficial.

Required skills : Python scripting. Prior knowledge in Computer Graphics, BlenderGameEngine architecture, Virtual and Augmented Reality, or 3D interaction will be appreciated. Good English is mandatory for bibliographic review.
