Open Engineer Position
Duration : 1 year up to 2 years (starting September’06)
Subject : Simulation of WiMAX
WiMAX technology is likely to play a key role in fixed broadband wireless metropolitan area networks. Fixed WiMAX which is based on the IEEE 802.16-2004 Air Interface standard is a cost effective fixed wireless alternative to cable and DSL services. Very recently, the 802.16e amendment to the 802.16 standard was ratified by the IEEE. This amendment adds the features and attributes to the standard that are necessary to support mobility. In this project, the candidate will write new modules to simulate MAC and PHY layers of this new wireless access technology. These new modules (as the new IEEE 802.11 modules currently in development by our group) are expected to be integrated into the next generation of the NS simulator.
Candidate skills : The candidate should have strong C/C++ programming skills and good background in wireless networking, especially on MAC/PHY modelling/simulation.
Note that preference will be given to young engineers that have less than one year professional experience.
